The inspiration behind the Studio S Low Profile toilet traces back to the mid-century modern era, where one-piece toilets were a popular choice. However, these designs were phased out due to their high water consumption. American Standard has successfully revived and modernized this concept, introducing a low-profile one-piece toilet that not only appeals to contemporary tastes but also incorporates breakthrough technology for superior performance.
The Studio S Low Profile toilet is a testament to American Standard's commitment to innovation. The design eliminates the need for a tank, instead utilizing the brand's pioneering PowerFlo hydraulic technology. This system ensures an ultra-efficient flush volume of just 3.8 liters, earning it a top MaP PREMIUM category flush score. The toilet also features a slow-close seat and a color-matched flush actuator integrated into the seat, enhancing its minimalist aesthetic.
The realization of this design was made possible through the use of PowerFlo technology, which allowed the designers to eliminate the tank and house the pressurized system at the back of the toilet. This innovative approach opened the door for a sleek, new design, made from porcelain and requiring no electricity. The PowerFlo system includes two canisters for water storage, pressurized using the water line pressure, ensuring virtually silent operation.
The design project, which started in March 2017 in New Jersey, was completed in October 2019 and was exhibited at the KBIS 2020 show in Las Vegas in January 2020. The Studio S Low Profile One-Piece Toilet has since been recognized for its innovative design, winning Silver in the A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, creativity, and innovation.
With its minimalist design, superior performance, and innovative technology, the Studio S Low Profile toilet is a testament to American Standard's commitment to redefining bathroom design. The toilet's sleek profile, coupled with its quiet flush and easy-to-clean design, makes it a standout choice for contemporary bathrooms. The design is currently patent-pending, with filings in the US and other countries due by April 29, 2020.
